English Department

                Firstly, I’m so proud to be a part of State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya, especially in English Department. I know that many students want to continue their study here but unfortunately they failed in the test. Well, I’d like to share some of my opinions about this department. For one thing, I like studying here because most of the lecturers are very kind. They not only teach us or just give the materials but also can be like a friend sometimes. They also often give us motivation to make our mindset of this department be better. For another thing, this department is very discipline. We have to be in class on 07.00 o’clock or if not, we’ll get the compensation. The compensation is little bit hard. I’ve ever cleaned the stairs in each floors of this department to pay my compensation. It was so much tired. But overall, I love to be here.

The Holly Al-Quran in Masjid Agung Palembang

A number of ulama and artists of calligraphy in  South Sumatera had done a new history  in the world of calligraphy. During eight years, they had made  the 30 juz of Al-Quran in 315 pieces of tamarind wood. Not less than 2 billion rupias was spent to make it happen.

 H Sofwatillah Mohzaib S.Sos is the originator of the idea and the desaigner of the holy Al-Quran. According to him, this holy Al-Quran is made of tamarind wood. T he overall thickness including the cover of up to 9 meters. The size of the page is 177 x 140 x 2.5 cm.

On January 30, 2012 President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono with the parliamentary conference delegates Organization of Islam Conference (OIC)  declarated this holy Al-Quran.

This Al-Quran is a phenomenal. Delegation of the Islamic state and the participants of  Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States (PUIC) Conference-7, those are Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Malaysia, Sudan, Uganda and Iraq, expressed their admiration for this Al Quran Al Akbar which is the best and the biggest religious art.

Al-Quran that consists of 630 pages is also completed by  tajwid and do’a khataman for the beginner. According to Sofwatillah Mohzaib, Al-Quran Al-Akbar is funded by donor contributions costed 900 million rupias, the remainder of more than 1 billion rupias is a private fund of some ulama in South Sumatra.

The purpose of making this holly Al-Quran is to increase the interest of people to read AL-Quran and preserve the sculpture of Palembang society. At the first time, this holly Al-Quran put in Masjid Agung Palembang but now it is moved to Al-Ihsaniyah Pesantren, Kecamatan Gandus, Palembang.

MY BEST JOB (3rd assignment)

    The best job I ever had was as a Liaison Officer (L.O) of PHRI in the last seagames event. My work was in Duta Hotel. First of all, I was proud that I could be a part of this event. Everyone knows that seagames was a International event which is maybe just once of life time to held in Palembang. So many people that want to participate to support this event. I was so happy when I passed the test to be a L.O. Second, it could help me to practice my english. Everyday during my job, I interacted with many people from other countries. My job was to serve all of the contingents and helped them to give what they need during they stayed in that hotel, so I had to be able communicate in English to understand what they were talking about. And the last, I love this job because I could meet many new person and be a friend with them. For example, when my job time was finish, there were some athletes who asked me to accompany them to go to mall. At that time, they took a conversation with me just like they talk with their friends. I won’t forget about this seagames memory because i’ve got many unforgettable experience from this.

                                                               BENTENG KUTO BESAK

    A tourist to Palembang should not miss to visit Benteng Kuto Besak (BKB) as one of  best tourism objects in Palembang. Visitors can find some interesting places in BKB because it’s in strategic location. Visitors can see the view and the activity in Ampera Bridge when they’re in BKB. Ampera Bridge is a landmark and icon of Palembang, so it’s one of thing that will make tourist interested to be there. Visitors also can see boats and activity of boating of Musi River from this place. Musi River is the most popular river and also be the icon of Palembang. In front of BKB, visitors will find one of historic museum in Palembang. The name is Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II. A short walk from the museum will takes visitors to the traditional market or wellknown with Pasar 16 Ilir. It’s a place where everyone can get and buy anything they need and they want. BKB is a crowded place, especially at night. It has wonderful view at night. Visitors also can find some vendors who sell some souvenirs, toys, accesories and etc. Adding to excitement, visitors don’t need to be worry if they feel hungry. There is River Side Restaurant with delicious and luxurious food or they also can choose to eat traditional food that sold by some vendors. With so many things to see and do, tourist will get wonderful feeling when they visit BKB.

Descriptive Paragraph_first assignment

MY COMFORTABLE BEDROOM

 

I’m going to tell about my bedroom. My bedroom is in the left side of my home. I clean it everyday, but sometimes it looks messy when I get up late and don’t have time to clean it first. My bed is on the right side of  the room. It’s big enough for me. Opposite the bed, there is a wardrobe that full of my clothes. But I often put my clothes in wrong place, sometimes I put it on my bed or the other place. Next to the wardrobe, there is a shelf book. I get a trouble here. I can’t make the arrangement of the books orderly. It always messy. The books scatter everywhere. Sometimes, when I do my homework I forget to return the book to the place. Beside of the shelf book there is a wastebasket that full of debris. That’s all about my bedroom. Whatever situation in my bedroom, I love to be there. It’s the most comfortable place for me because I can do anything that I want.
